In the tradition of a true French bistro, Petit Robert Central offers delicious, yet reasonably priced cuisine in a friendly, neighborhood environment. We are proud to bring true French flavor right to the heart of Boston’s Downtown Crossing. Chef Jacky Robert and his team offer authentic classic dishes such as foie gras with rhubarb or Boeuf Bourguignon and also charm with innovations such as Duck Confit Sushi and unique dishes such as Tripes Provencal. Delight in finishing touches, those French desserts that beguile the world—dense Mousse au Chocolat, feather-light Macarons, and dreamy Profiteroles with Chocolate Sauce. We have an amazing team of people involved in the creation of Petit Robert Central. Learn more about each of them below.
Chef/Owner, Jacky Robert
A Master Chef of France, Chef Robert is responsible for the culinary vision and positioning of the Petit Robert Bistros as well as the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. He is one of the best-known and most revered French chefs working in the United States, and was chef of Maison Robert, Ernie’s in San Francisco, and of Locke-Ober Cafe. In 2005, he partnered with Loic Le Garrec to open Petit Robert Bistro’s Kenmore Square location, an immediate success. Petit Robert Central marks the fifth Petit Robert venture for Robert and Loic Le Garrec.
Executive Chef, Eric Bogardus
Chef Eric Bogardus began his career in Boston at the critically acclaimed Pignoli, where he spent six years as Chef de Cuisine cooking alongside his culinary idols Danieli Baliani, Susan Regis, and Lydia Shire. In 2005, Bogardus was also nominated for and became one of five finalist candidates for consideration as White House Chef. After travels in China, Bogardus most recently returned to Locke-Ober as consulting chef for Lydia Shire. With the opening of Citrio in 2008, a café, catering and gourmet food shop located in Newton Highlands, Bogardus fulfilled his dream of owning his own business while highlighting his versatility and passion as one of Boston's best chefs.
Owner, Loic Le Garrec
Loic went to cooking school in France, and has worked every position in the restaurant world – from busboy to pastry-making to cook to bartender. He first worked with Chef Robert at Locke-Ober in Boston and then became Food and Beverage Director of the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod where Chef Robert was executive chef. He oversees the front of the house (service, reservations, beverages) and excels at taking care of diners, the ambiance of the restaurant, management of the staff, and financial matters. His outgoing personality and interest in representing French culture in other countries adds much to the spirit of the Petit Robert Bistros.
